What it is

A waterfall enrichment platform focused purely on finding contact info: it
cascades a lookup through 20+ data providers (3B+ contacts) to return verified
emails and phone numbers. You only pay when it returns valid data.

How it works

When the first provider misses, it falls through to the next until it gets a
hit, which is how it claims an 87 to 95 percent email find rate. Phone numbers
cost 10 credits versus 1 for an email, so phone-heavy runs burn credits fast.

Where it sits vs Clay: BetterContact is a specialist (contact-info waterfall
only), Clay is a generalist enrichment engine. Many stacks use BetterContact as
one of the enrichment steps inside Clay.

How I used it

Was using this as the principal enrichment tool for an european startup in a very niche technical industry. Perhaps this was not the right choice but at the time every other enrichment tool seemed to have a tough time finding european data so one that claimed to have such a high email finding rate was my preffered choice.
I would generate my base list from salesnav and use this to enrich emails.
I'd say it found around 80% of emails I needed, therefore it did quite well.
Positives:

  • High email finding rate
  • Only charges for valid data
  • Good for teams on a budget
  • Simple, straightforward and easy to use

Negatives:

  • Unfriendly UI
  • Feels weird. Vibes are off.
  • Not that much wrong with it really

Cost breakdown

Starter $15/mo (200 credits), Pro $49/mo (1,000 credits) scaling to 50,000
credits, Enterprise from $799/mo. 50 free credits, no card required. Charged only
for valid data.

Per valid email (charged ONLY when the data is valid, so 1 credit = 1 valid email,
no hit-rate math needed):

  • Starter: 200 credits / $15 = ~$0.075 / valid email

  • Pro: 1,000 credits / $49 = ~$0.049 / valid email (drops to ~$0.02-0.03 at higher tiers)

  • Phone numbers cost 10 credits each (~10x an email)

  • You never pay for a miss, so this is the most predictable cost per email of the

finders (your ~80% find rate affects coverage, not the per-email price).

Verdict

Didn't use it as much as I would've liked to because team was on a very tight budget. Overall I recommend it for teams that want to run cheaper outreach and still get decent data. Basic rule still applies though, always validate any emails you find before putting them into a campaign.
